Early Voting
In-person Absentee Voting has now been replaced with a Two-Week Early Voting Period. Any Voter can visit an Early-Voting Location in their County and vote as they would at their Polling Place on Election Day
The General Election in the Town of Gaston will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. Early Voting begins January 6, 2025 – January 17, 2025 from 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday (closed Saturday and Sunday).

Voters will be asked to present a current and valid photo ID when checking in
Curb-Side Voting:
Any Voter who, because of a disability or being age 65 or older, cannot enter the polling place in which they are registered to vote, or is unable to stand in line to vote, may vote outside the polling place inside a vehicle in the closest available parking area (7-13-771-National voting Accessibility for Elderly and Handicapped Act)
Absentee (Ballots Must be Mailed, not given In-Person)
Absentee Voting allows qualified voters to cast a ballot by mail, prior to Election Day. IN-Person Absentee Voting is No Longer Authorized by law.
To Request an ABSENTEE APPLICATION:
- Voters may request a ‘Application for Absentee Voting’ by contacting the Lexington County Voter Registration Office by “Mail”, “Phone” or “In-Person”:

Qualified Voters include:
- Voters with Disabilities
- Voters sixty-five years of age or older
- Members of the Armed Forces and Merchant Marines of the United States, their spouses, and dependents residing with them
- Voters admitted to hospitals as emergency patients on the day of an election or within a four-day period before the election
- Voters who, for one of the following reasons, are unable to Vote in person any day of the Early Voting period or Election Day
- Employment obligations
- Attending sick or physically disabled persons
- Confined to a jail or pretrial facility pending disposition of arrest or trial
- Absent from their county for any reason
ABSENTEE APPLICATION DEADLINE:
- Friday, January 10, 2025 at 5:00 pm, to RETURN a ‘Completed Absentee Application’ to the Lexington County Voter Registration Office for the General Election
- VOTE, Sign and Return the Absentee Application to your Voter Registration Office by “MAIL” or “IN-PERSON”
- After your Application is processed, you will receive your BALLOT IN THE MAIL
- All applications returned AFTER this date will NOT receive an Absentee Ballot. If you miss this deadline, please Vote at an Early Voting Center or Vote on Election Day at your assigned Precinct.

ABSENTEE BALLOT DEADLINE:
- Vote and Return your Ballot to your County Voter Registration Office by Mail, or In-Person
- Be sure to SIGN and DATE the VOTERS OATH and have the RETURN ENVELOPE WITNESSED (Witness must PRINT their Name, Sign and Included their Address). The witness requirement changes in the law went into effect in July 2022.
- Photo ID will be REQUIRED to Return the Ballot In Person
- If someone other than the Voter is returning the ballot, an AUTHORIZED TO RETURN ABSENTEE BALLOT FORM 'MUST' accompany the ballot (Do NOT Seal this form inside the Envelope with the Ballot!). This form is included in the ballot packet that is mailed to the Voter. Both the Voter and the Returnee MUST Sign the form. Proper ID will be required of the Returnee to Submit the Ballot.
- BALLOTS may be returned to an Early Voting Center during Early Voting Hours
- BALLOTS may be returned to the County Voter Registration Office No Later than 7:00 p.m. on Election Day:
