Education

Image removed.Lexington County Land Development Staff participates in various education and outreach activities to inform the citizens of Lexington County of the importance of protecting and preserving the County’s natural resources.  Staff has worked with homeowner associations to stencil storm drains, visited schools for career day, spoken to local civic organizations and hosted workshops.

Lexington County is one of seven municipalities that comprise the Lexington Countywide Stormwater Consortium (LCSC). In conjunction with the Towns of Irmo, South Congaree, Springdale, Pine Ridge, Lexington and the Cities of West Columbia and Cayce, the LCSC seeks to protect the natural resources in Lexington County from pollution caused by residential and business activities. The LCSC accomplishes this by:

  1.         Creating a model collaborative water quality education program,
  2.         Fostering citizen involvement and encouraging behavioral change, and
  3.         Enforcing state and local stormwater regulations

You can learn more by visiting the Lexington Countywide Stormwater Consortium website at www.LCSWC.com.
